Lyttelton Reserve Circuit

- Start the walk from Somes Road in Lyttelton or from the car park on the Summit Road.
- Description
From Somes Road in Lyttelton, take the Major Hornbrook Track which winds steeply up under bluffs and through gullies to reach the Summit Road at Major Hornbrook Saddle. Follow the Crater Rim Walkway under the Mt Pleasant bluffs in the direction of Evans Pass. Just past the old gun emplacements, take the Chalmers Hill Track which zigzags down through groves of kowhai and ribbonwood towards Lyttelton. Near the bottom there is a junction with the Chalmers Circuit Track, which you follow across the lower slopes before climbing to rejoin the Major Hornbrook Track.
You can also start the circuit from the car park on the Summit Road.
