Description

Victoria Park is central to a vast array of tracks and facilities including a Visitor Centre, walking, wheelchair and mountain bike tracks, picnic and playground areas. Situated on the ridges and valleys descending from Sugarloaf, this area has panoramic views of Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains, Pegasus Bay and the Southern Alps. From the native bush of Dry Bush, to the secrecy of The Hidden Valley, to the historic Victoria Park, this 260-hectare area is a substantial and priceless recreational asset.

One of the best short bush walks in Christchurch is the Tawhairaunui Trail.

Walk down to Victoria Park Drive to where the Tawhairaunui Trail begins on your left. The Tawhairaunui Trail has been constructed especially for disabled and wheelchairs with boardwalks and decking through bush and woodlands. There are seats along the trail.
