Rerewhakaaitu Reserves Area

- South of Rotorua, take the turnoff to Rerewhakaaitu.
- Description
Has special wildlife interest. There are two self registrated camp sites administrated by DOC. One at Awaatua Bay and the other at Ash Pit Bay.
Cool little lake with nice scenery and walks, mainly on the western end.
Lake Rerewhakaaitu has special breeding areas for Banded Dotterell.
