Bottle Lake Forest Park
- Location
- The main entrance and car park for Bottle Lake Forest is from Waitikiri Drive, off Burwood Road, via either Marshlands or Burwood. There is also access from Spencer Park, and from North Shore along the Southern Pegasus Bay Track.
- Description
Bottle Lake Forest offers unique and diverse recreational experiences to suit all ages and levels of fitness. Horse trekking, mountain bike riding, walking and bird watching are just some
of the activities that can be enjoyed. The majority of tracks are in the shade of the forest trees, ideal for walking on hot or windy days. The sandy soil allows fast drainage, meaning relatively dry tracks all year round. All tracks are marked with blue, green or yellow markers, identifying the length of the walk. The tracks begin from the main car park, off Waitakiri Drive.
The visitor centre, located adjacent to the main car park, has displays, recreational information and park brochures. Walkers and mountain bikers are advised that from time to time some of the tracks will be closed due to forestry operations or that there may have been 1080 poison laid in the area. Visitors to the forest should check the notices in their local newspapers, the signs at the entranceway or contact the Bottle Lake park rangers phone 03 941-6840.
