Rakaia River Gorge Bridge Walk
- Location
- From Darfield follow SH 72. From Methven follow SH 77 turn right at the Mt Hutt junction with SH 72. From Christchurch go through Darfield or travel up the Bealey Road from Aylesbury corner on SH 73.
- Description
The Walkway is approx 8km. The round trip is 4 hours; but this can be halved if you take the jet boat one way.
Although the track is not difficult there are some areas of bluffs and cliffs. Weather and wind conditions can vary. The river levels are subject to rapid changes. Weather can be variable and windy during Northwest conditions so be prepared.
This bridge links Selwyn to Ashburton and South Canterbury via SH 72.
