Cultural Heritage Trail

Description

Investigate the area’s fascinating multi-layered history by following the trail on the map. There are carefully laid out gardens, which were once part of a swampy, scrub-covered wilderness, honeycombed with steaming pools and mud holes. Volcanic activity is constant here.
Parts of this place were the scene of fierce battlefields.
Some geothermal areas have been tamed, buildings have come and gone and pathways have changed.
