Kaitawa Road Track – East Harbour Regional Park

- Description
Good panoramas of York Bay and Petone. Occasionally the native orchids put on a fine display. Car parking is limited. A narrow, challenging trail.
The Kaitawa Road track follows a deep bush gully that shelters important remnant coastal Kohekohe forest. Further up, the track sidles through beech forest offering spectacular harbour views. From the main ridge a range of tracks lead down to other eastern bays and over to the Wainuiomata Valley.
East Harbour Regional Park is a contrast of native forest and rocky coastline, providing a magnificent backdrop to Wellington Harbour.
