MacKenzie Road Track

Location

The Muritai Park entrance is between numbers 259 and 261 on Muritai Rd, Eastbourne.
Park on Muritai Road. At the end of Mackenzie Road the track is signposted just opposite the Eastbourne shopping centre.

Description

The MacKenzie Road track winds up through regenerating bush and mature beech forest offering spectacular harbour views. At the main ridge all tracks descend into Butterfly Creek Valley and on to the well known picnic spot.

The track is steep for the first 30 mins and is slippery when wet. Just after entering the black beech forest is a bench and signpost at the junction with the Muritai Park Track. Walk down to Butterfly Creek and the streamside forest surrounded by kidney and filmy ferns. From the junction with Kowhai Street Track and Bus Barn Track it is 15 mins to the picnic area.
