Whangarei Quarry Gardens

Location
Russell Road
Description

Whangarei Quarry Gardens is a community project created by volunteers in the remnants of an old quarry in Russell Road, Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand.

In the gardens, you will find spectacular subtropical plantings in a terraced amphitheatre with a lake fed by two waterfalls.

You will need comfortable walking shoes, as there are many walking tracks for you to explore the gardens.

Parts of the quarry get very hot during summer, particularly the arid garden area, so we recommend you take precautions against the sun.

While dogs are permitted in the garden, they must be kept under control on a lead at all times. Any droppings must be removed by the owner. Volunteers do not appreciate encountering unpleasant deposits when they are working in the gardens.

Please take only photographs, and leave only your footprints.
