Kaimai Mamaku

- Can be accessed at various points along SH2, 26 and 29.
- Description
Has a great range of vegetation from dense low altitude forest to windblown scrub and grassland. It has various walks which cater for a variety of fitness levels including overnight tramps.
There are three recreational huts in the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park which have open fires for cooking and bunks with mattresses. Dry firewood can be scarce, so gas cookers should be carried. A small fee is charged for using the huts.
Hunting with a permit is allowed. A permit is obtainable from Department of Conservation.
