Yatton Park – Turret Road – 1 hour

Description

Yatton Park contains some of New Zealand’s oldest trees. Follow the vehicle access track through the park and around the estuary.

For a short walk turn left into Esk Street Reserve which follows stream through open areas and native planting. Turn left again along Fraser street to Yatton Park.
A good walk with a buddy or group.

Yatton Park is named after the legacy of "Yatton Estate", a property established by the late Mr John Alfred Chadwick. It is presumed that Mr Chadwick named his property after the English village of that name, as it may have been his original home town.

Today the park is being developed to enhance the extensive plantings of the original owner and includes sweeping lawns, a recycling fresh water stream from a garden pool, and perennial flower beds.

Bookings for weddings are popular throughout the year at the park, either by the waterfall or nestled amongst the mature trees. This makes for a delightful day and a beautiful backdrop for photographs. Reservations can be made through the Bookings Officer, Customer Service Center Ph 07 577 7000.
