Dominant feature of the Tauranga district which rises 232m above sea level. Mauao means “caught by the dawn”.
The tracks were establishes in the 1960’s. The base track is mostly wide and flat and easy for all fitness levels. There are great fishing and picnic spots along the way. The summit track is steeper and require a reasonable fitness level.
Excellent views of the ocean and beach. Features coastal views and hill lookout, historical pa, and blowholes.
Wheelchair access can be gained at the base of the track with a key form the Mount Hot Pools. A refundable deposit is required.
No dogs permitted.
